UP doubles scholarship seats under Mukhyamantri Krishak Chhatravritti Yojana, yearly amount now ₹60,000

Uttar Pradesh has doubled the number of scholarship seats for children of farmers and agricultural labourers under the Mukhyamantri Krishak Chhatravritti Yojana (Chief Minister's Farmers' Scholarship Scheme). The scheme is run by the State Agricultural Produce Market Board (Mandi Parishad).

At each agricultural university and institute, 90 students will now get the scholarship in place of 45. At each agricultural college, the number goes up from 15 to 30. Each selected student gets ₹60,000 a year, up from ₹36,000, which is ₹24,000 more every year. The scholarship is given on merit.

Mandi Parishad now gives the scholarship to eligible students in 11 agricultural universities and institutes and 61 agricultural colleges in the state. Under the revised seat numbers, undergraduate agriculture seats at universities and institutes rise from 25 to 50 and undergraduate Home Science seats from 6 to 12. Postgraduate agriculture seats go up from 10 to 20 and postgraduate Home Science seats from 4 to 8. At agricultural colleges, undergraduate seats rise from 10 to 20 and postgraduate seats from 5 to 10.

Students of horticulture, forestry, animal husbandry and related subjects are also covered. Mandi Parishad Director Jitendra Pratap Singh said the state government has worked to give children from farming families better opportunities.

As per the Mandi Parishad, 6,454 students received about ₹22.90 crore under the scheme between 2017-18 and 2025-26.
