Gujarat adds ₹1,000 crore for rooftop solar subsidy

Gujarat has announced an additional ₹1,000 crore in state subsidy for rooftop solar under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, with more than 3 lakh families expected to benefit, Ahmedabad Mirror reports.

Under the existing central scheme, residential consumers get ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW, up to ₹78,000 for systems of up to 3 kW. With the added state subsidy, general-category consumers will pay 10% of the system cost and SC/ST consumers 5%.

For a 1 kW system costing ₹54,000, the central subsidy is ₹32,400 and the state subsidy is ₹16,200 for general-category consumers or ₹18,900 for SC/ST consumers. Their contributions are ₹5,400 and ₹2,700. For a 2 kW system costing ₹1,07,200, central support is ₹62,800 and the state subsidy is ₹33,600 or ₹38,960, leaving contributions of ₹10,720 or ₹5,360, respectively.
