Gujarat NMMS Scholarship 2026-27: Registration starts October 15, exam on December 5

Gujarat State Exam Board has announced the NMMS scholarship 2026-27 schedule. The exam is likely on December 5, 2027, and online applications will start on October 15, 2026.

Students can apply until October 24, 2026, with online fee payment open till October 26, 2026. Selected students will get Rs 12,000 yearly for four years under the Union education ministry scheme.

Eligibility and Application Details

NMMS eligibility includes Class 8 students from government, local body, or grant-in-aid schools. General and OBC students need at least 55% marks in Class 7, while SC and ST students need 50%. Parent or guardian income cannot exceed Rs 3.5 lakh. Gujarat gets a quota of 5097 students under the scheme.

Selected students will get Rs 1000 monthly directly to their bank accounts after registering and verifying on the National Scholarship Portal. The exam fee is Rs 70 for general EWS and OBC students and Rs 50 for SC ST and PH candidates, payable only online. Schools must complete student applications before the deadline.

Exam Pattern and Documents

The NMMS exam has two sections: Mental Ability Test and Scholastic Aptitude Test. Each section has 90 multiple-choice questions for 90 marks, with no negative marking. Applicants must check that their names match Aadhaar details and align with U-DISE records. They must upload income certificate, caste certificate, Class 7 marksheet, and Aadhaar card copies.

Qualification Marks and Scholarship Renewal

To qualify for NMMS, students must score at least 40% combined in MAT and SAT, while reserved category students need only 32%. The NMMS scholarship continues yearly if awardees perform well, requiring at least 55% in the previous class final exam, relaxed to 50% for reserved categories.
