Kerala launches WOMN scheme with ₹10 sanitary napkin packets at 14 KSRTC terminals
Kerala Women and Child Development Department launched WOMN - Women on the Move and Menstrual Needs scheme. It offers cheap sanitary napkins and safe disposal options at public transport points.
Main points
Sanitary napkin vending machines will be set up at 14 KSRTC terminals/depots as a pilot project. Each pack has three sanitary napkins for ₹10.
Incinerators will go next to the machines for proper disposal of used napkins. KSRTC will manage the machines and maintain incinerators at bus stands and depots.
HLL will give sanitary napkins to KSRTC to fill the machines and train staff on cleaning.
