PMAY-U 2.0 Affordable Rental Housing scheme details and eligibility

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0) gives affordable rental housing to urban people through its Affordable Rental Housing (ARH) part. This scheme helps poor families and low-income groups, like migrants, factory workers, working women, labourers, street vendors, and contract staff.

Scheme infrastructure and models

State and union territory governments must supply basic infrastructure in housing blocks, such as drinking water, sewage systems, health centres, childcare, and toilets. Shops for daily needs are also allowed in these areas. Work happens through two models:

• Public-private partnerships (PPPs) to turn empty government homes into rental housing.
• Building new rental housing by private or government groups.
