Kerala High Court Upholds Vaccination Rule for PMMVY Maternity Benefits

Kerala High Court ruled that infant vaccination is a required condition to get the ₹6,000 maternity benefit under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana for a second girl child. Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas stated the scheme is conditional. People must finish all requirements, including vaccinations up to fourteen weeks under the Universal Immunization Programme.

The court dismissed a petition against this rule. It noted that no one has a fundamental right to claim these benefits without meeting the criteria. The court also observed that the health perks of shots are much higher than possible side effects. Courts should not question the expert scientific view on children's vaccines.
