Kerala Proposes Extending PM POSHAN Scheme to Classes 9-12

Kerala has sent its consent to the central government to expand PM POSHAN mid-day meal scheme to include students from Class 9 up to Plus Two. The scheme currently supports students from Class 1 to 8 in government and aided schools.

Mid-day meal expansion updates

General Education Minister N Samsudheen shared this update while handing out Onam special rice. The state is giving 4 kg of free rice to about 23.5 lakh students. This involves 905 metric tonnes of rice managed by Supplyco.

Food security is a top priority. The state is also working to keep market prices down and making sure Antyodaya Anna Yojana families get their festive kits.
