Tamil Nadu raises VB-G RAM G work days to 150, sets aside ₹100 crore

Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) now gives 150 days of guaranteed work in Tamil Nadu, up from 125 days. The state has set aside ₹100 crore for 2026-27 and funds the whole amount itself.

The extra 25 days are for women-headed households, single women, households with a person with disabilities, and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe households. Households covered by the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 also qualify.

Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department issued a government order last month giving administrative approval. Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay asked officials on July 3 to give the extra days to households that finish the full 125 days, as per the order. Households in the state can check their names in the VB-G RAM G job card list. Other reports call the plan Vetri 150.

VB-G RAM G replaced the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005 and started on July 1, taking the legal guarantee from 100 to 125 days. The union and state governments share its cost in a 60:40 ratio.
