Sikkim to Study Nagaland Health Insurance Model

Sikkim government officials are visiting Kohima to learn about the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) model. The group wants to use similar ideas for cashless treatment and hospital lists in their own state. This visit follows a NITI Aayog meeting on June 12, 2026, where Nagaland's health insurance progress was discussed.

Health scheme success

Nagaland Development Commissioner Y Kikheto Sema said the scheme has registered 64,000 people. Over the past four years, about 252 crore rupees has been paid out for treatment costs. The network currently includes over 70 empanelled hospitals in cities like Delhi, Kolkata, and Guwahati, as well as local ones. This work helps the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) give more residents access to health services.
