Maharashtra adds PET-CT scans to MJPJAY and Ayushman Bharat cancer packages
PET-CT scans for cancer patients are now covered under Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana and Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana in Maharashtra. Patients in Nagpur and across Vidarbha can get the test through both schemes.
The scan is added as an extra diagnostic step in 63 cancer treatment packages. Earlier it was part of 44 packages. It is also listed as a standalone diagnostic test for 13 types of cancer treatment where doctors find it useful.
The fixed rates are Rs 20,400 for a whole-body PET-CT scan, Rs 14,650 for brain, Rs 15,000 for Gallium-68 and Rs 9,400 for heart. What a patient actually gets depends on the hospital and the rules of the scheme.
