E-Shram Portal Completes Five Years With 31.89 Crore Registrations

e-Shram Portal has finished five years of service, helping provide a digital safety support for the unorganised workforce in India. As of August 18, 2026, 31.89 crore workers have registered on the platform.

Ministry of Labour and Employment launched this scheme in 2021. It gives workers a unique 12-digit Universal Account Number. This helps them get welfare schemes, skill training, and pension services. The database is very important for migrant and construction workers. It keeps their benefits portable no matter where they go.

Registration details

Here are some key facts about the people registered on the portal:

  • Women make up 54.28 percent of all registrations.
  • 55.21 percent of users are between 18 and 40 years old.
  • Workers aged 40 to 50 represent 24.18 percent, and those above 50 make up 20.53 percent.

This digital infrastructure helps connect government welfare programmes to people working outside the formal job sector. Eligible people can check their e-Shram Payment Status or finish their e-Shram Card registration on the official website.
