Dimapur District Electricity Committee Reviews RDSS Progress

District Electricity Committee officials met in Dimapur on August 19, 2026, to review progress on Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme. This scheme helps improve power quality and infrastructure in the area. The government approved a budget of ₹459.22 crore for Dimapur. This money covers installing new 11 kV lines, distribution transformers, and smart meters.

Progress on smart meters and solar power

By August 14, 2026, authorities finished installing 21,568 consumer meters and 386 DT meters in the district. Lok Sabha MP S. Supongmeren Jamir asked officials to talk to residents about smart meter benefits to help clear up confusion. The committee also checked on PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. They noted 473 rooftop solar setups are finished, giving a total capacity of 1.58 MW.

The department formed two flying squads for field inspections to keep work quality high. Officials are working to fix land and right-of-way problems to finish the project on time.
