Madhya Pradesh government is running Mukhyamantri Krishak Mitra Yojana for farmers who want a permanent electricity connection for their farm pump, and applications are open through the state power distribution companies. Under this scheme a farmer or a farmer group pays only 50% of the infrastructure cost, the state government gives 40% as a grant, and the power company bears the remaining 10%.
Scheme covers the cost of the pipeline work, the pole and line extension and the transformer needed to bring power to the pump point. Energy Department of Madhya Pradesh runs it, and the work at your field has to finish within six months of you depositing your share.
Mukhyamantri Krishak Mitra Yojana Apply Online Process
Application is online and takes only a few minutes if your papers are ready. Farmers in the East Discom area apply through the Smart Bijlee portal, and farmers in other areas can apply at their local distribution centre office.
STEP 1 - Open the Mukhyamantri Krishak Mitra Yojana application page on the MP East Discom Smart Bijlee website and read the short instructions given on the home page.
STEP 2 - Choose your applicant type, that is single farmer or a group of farmers, and click on the option to move to the form.
STEP 3 - Fill the form with your name, mobile number, village, khasra number and the pump capacity you need. Keep the details exactly same as your land record, because a mismatch delays the survey.
STEP 4 - Upload your photo, Aadhaar card and khasra papers. Each file has to be 3 MB or less.
STEP 5 - Check everything once, tick the terms box and submit. Save the acknowledgement number, you will need it to follow up with the distribution centre in-charge.
STEP 6 - A lineman or junior engineer visits your field, measures the distance from the nearest line and prepares the cost estimate. After you deposit your 50% share, the company starts the pole, line and transformer work.

Cost Sharing Under the Scheme
Biggest reason farmers avoid a permanent connection is the one time infrastructure cost. This scheme splits that cost three ways, so the amount coming out of the farmer's pocket comes down by half.
| Funding Source | Share |
|---|---|
| Farmer or farmer group | 50% |
| State government grant | 40% |
| Power distribution company | 10% |
Who Can Apply
Rules are simple. You should be a farmer of Madhya Pradesh holding agricultural land in your own name, and you should need a permanent connection for a pump of 3 HP or more. Groups of farmers sharing one connection point can also apply together. Land where a permanent farm pump connection already exists is not covered.
Distance also matters. Work is normally planned up to about 200 metres from the nearest existing line, and for longer stretches the estimate goes up, so check the figure with your distribution centre before depositing money.
Documents Required
Papers needed are few, but they have to be clear and readable at the time of upload. File size limit for each document is 3 MB.
- Self attested passport size photograph of the applicant farmer.
- Aadhaar card, which is used for identity checking and for linking the application with your mobile number.
- Khasra land record of the field where the pump will be installed, showing your ownership.
- Bank passbook copy linked with Aadhaar, since payment and refund entries go through this account.
Solar Pump Option for Farmers
Farmers who want to skip the electricity line completely can look at the solar route instead. State runs a separate solar pump scheme where the subsidy share is much higher and the pump runs on its own panel, with no monthly bill. Details of that scheme and the current subsidy are covered in the Madhya Pradesh PM Krishak Mitra Yojana solar pump update.
SC and ST farmers should also check the free electricity supply scheme of Madhya Pradesh, because for many small holdings that scheme works out cheaper than paying the 50% share here. A full list is there on the Madhya Pradesh schemes list page.
Help and Complaint
For any delay in survey, estimate or connection work, first speak to the distribution centre in-charge of your area, since that officer is the designated person for this scheme. If nothing moves, register a complaint on CM Helpline number 181, which works for all state schemes.
