Inclusion of Weavers Children in Vidyanidhi Scheme Karnataka
Karnataka state government has decided to include children of weavers under the Vidyanidhi scheme, a scholarship programme which covers them till the completion of their graduation. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said as many as 46,000 children of weavers are identified for the scheme and the amount will be released within 15 days.
The CM was speaking after launching Nekara Sanmana, a Direct Benefit Transfer (DTH) scheme where grants were given to handloom weavers on Friday. Stressing on Vidyanidhi scheme, the CM instructed the officials concerned to submit the list of the 46,000 children of weavers within 15 days and release the amount immediately. “No application will be collected from those children as Vidyanidhi is their right,” he said. This is also seen as an attempt by the state government to woo the community ahead of the assembly polls next year.

In order to increase the literacy rate and reduce the unemployment rate in Karnataka, CM on 11 April 2022 announced the extension of the Raitha Vidya Nidhi scholarship scheme for the children of weavers and fishermen families for this year as well. CM said “It has been decided to extend the Raitha Vidya Nidhi scholarship scheme for children of weavers and fishermen families this year too.” CM also said the hostel facilities will be provided for students of fishermen families by the Social Welfare department to avoid any disruption in higher education to the students of weaker sections.
Meanwhile, as per an official statement, under the Raita Vidya Nidhi scholarship scheme 2022, the state government will provide scholarships ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 11,000 for the higher education of the children of farmers. Through this scheme, the amount of scholarship money of the beneficiaries will be transferred directly to the bank account. The scholarship scheme launched on 7 August, 2021 by the Government of Karnataka aims to provide scholarships to the children of farmers in the state to enable them to pursue higher education.

The yearly scholarship sum will be instantly credited into the bank accounts of youngsters who have completed their 10th standard and are studying courses at any recognized educational institution or university.
- According to the government orders, Boys enrolled in PUC or ITI courses would receive Rs. 2,500, while girls will receive Rs. 3,000.
- Boys taking admissions in BA, B.Sc, BCom, MBBS, BE, and other professional courses would receive Rs. 5,000, while girls will receive Rs. 5,500.
- Boys studying law, paramedical science, nursing, and other vocational studies would receive Rs. 7,500, while girls will receive Rs. 8,000.

STEP 5: If the applicant does not have aadhar then enter the EID number (14 digit aadhar enrollment ID number) to open Chief Minister Raitha Vidya Nidhi Scheme application form without aadhar. EID number will be mentioned in the Aadhar acknowledgement copy, which will be given to you once you get enrolled to aadhar.
STEP 6: In case the applicant student has aadhar, then Karnataka Farmer Child Scholarship Yojana application form will open.

Farmers children who have already received merit scholarships from other sources will not be qualified or eligible for the state government scheme. The scholarships will be awarded to students who are enrolled in a specific course. If they receive a scholarship for a PG course in a specific subject, they will not be eligible for it again if they enroll in another PG course after completing the one for which they received the scholarship.
Amendment in Mukhyamantri Raitha Vidya Nidhi Scholarship
Karnataka state government has made amendment in CM Raitha Vidya Nidhi Scheme rules on providing education scholarships to children of farmers. With the proposed changes, children of farmers can avail Mukhyamantri Raitha Vidya Nidhi Scholarship even if they are getting other scholarships. As per the order issued on 10 December 2021, based on the data available with the various departments, the government will identify students eligible for the Karnataka Farmers Child Scholarship Scheme and provide them with financial assistance for higher education.
Applications submitted by students will also be considered for the scholarship in which money will be transferred directly to their bank accounts. For the purpose of the scheme, a farmers family means a family registered with the e-governance department’s Kutumba app, the order stated.
