Jagananna Videshi Vidya Deevena 2nd Installment Transfer
Andhra Pradesh chief minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on 27 July 2023 disbursed second tranche of financial assistance under Jagananna Videshi Vidya Deevena (JVVD) scheme. About 357 students received assistance to the tune of Rs. 46 crore. With a view to allow the meritorious students from the economically weaker sections to realise their dreams of studying in overseas universities, the state government has designed the JVVD in such a way that they aim for seats in top universities in the world.
“The scheme was mired controversies during the previous TDP regime as it was designed to favour the select few and rich. We have redesigned the scheme to help the meritorious children from the poor following the chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s instructions,” said social welfare minister. He said that they are implementing the JVVD to all eligible students in saturation mode and in utmost transparent manner.
Every year selections will be made twice (for fall season & spring season) as per the admissions schedule for Foreign Universities. “Selection of students is done by a state level selection committee headed by the principal secretaries of concerned departments. Getting admissions in any of the top 50 Universities as per QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) world university rankings has been made mandatory to ensure quality education,” explained social welfare minister.
While the students who secured 60% per cent marks in the qualifying degree (graduation) level are eligible to pursue masters, students who want to pursue MBBS abroad should have cleared NEET. The government advised the eligible students to file their applications on www.jnanabhumi.ap.gov.in website to screen their applications. The government has already constituted a high-level committee headed by chief secretary to scrutinise the applications. All the eligible students would get direct assistance from the government without interference of anyone.
