Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS) under Ministry of Jal Shakti runs Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin (SBM-G), and its Swachh App helps people track real time sanitation coverage across rural India. SBM-G Phase II runs from 2020-21 to 2025-26, with focus on keeping villages open defecation free and managing solid and liquid waste. Swachh Manch Portal and Ease of Living Index
Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), launched Swachh Manch web portal and Ease of Living Index on 10 August 2018. Swachh Survekshan and ODF+ and ODF++ protocols were launched alongside these under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM).
Central government had webcast this launch live so states and cities could watch it across the country. Ease of Living Index dashboard lets people compare and check performance of cities on different liveability parameters. Both tools support PM Narendra Modi's target of a clean India by the 75th year of Mahatma Gandhi's anniversary.
Details of Swachh Manch Web Portal
Central government launched Swachh Manch as a web platform to bring stakeholders together for Swachh Bharat Mission work, earlier available at swachhmanch.in. People could create, invite others to and join volunteer clean up drives around their neighbourhood on this portal. Note: this portal was launched as part of a 2018 campaign push, and current activity on it is not confirmed, so check swachhbharatmission.ddws.gov.in or sbm.gov.in for updated sanitation data and services.
Citizens and organisations could upload photo proof of their clean up work on Swachh Manch, and the portal kept a record of volunteer hours logged by each person. It was linked with Swachhata App and also worked as a complaint platform for cleanliness related grievances.
