Delhi government is soon going to launch a new DIY Kit Scheme 2024. As announced in Delhi Budget 2022-23, the govt. of National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi will provide Do it Yourself kits to promote urban farming. The city government has launched the urban farming campaign to encourage residents of the city to grow vegetables on their rooftops and verandahs. Delhi DIY Kit Scheme 2024
The state govt. of Delhi has decided to provide kits for promotion of farming activities in urban areas under DIY Kit scheme. All these kits will have some items related to agriculture which a beneficiary person must arrange it to do farming at home. Let’s check the items present in the urban farming kits.
Items in Do It Yourself Kits
The kits to be given under the Delhi DIY Kit scheme will include the following things:-
- Summer and winter crop seeds
- Biofertilisers
- Manure
- A leaflet on how to go about it
These 4 items under the Delhi Do It Yourself Kit scheme will be provided by the Environment department.
Delhi Budget 2022-23 Allocation for Environment Sector
While presenting the Delhi Budget with the basic theme of Rozgar (employment) in March month in the Delhi assembly, finance minister Manish Sisodia said the union territory will create nearly 100,000 jobs in the next five years in the environment sector. These jobs would include 25,000 jobs for women under the smart urban farming initiative. The Aam Aadmi Party government had allocated Rs. 266 crore total outlay for the environment sector.
Smart Urban Farming Initiative
The Delhi government will launch the Smart Urban Farming initiative in association with the Indian Agricultural Research Institute. Residents will be trained to help them grow vegetables in small spaces.
