Bihar government is taking online applications for Bihar Rajya Fasal Sahayata Yojana at esahkari.bihar.gov.in. This crop insurance scheme gives money help to farmers when their crops get damaged by natural calamities like flood, drought, frost or hailstorm. For the Rabi 2025-26 season, applications opened from 1 January 2026, and eligible farmers can fill the BRFSY online application form on the official website before the last date.

Bihar Rajya Fasal Sahayata Yojana works as a state replacement for Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). Best part is that farmers do not pay any premium for it. After a farmer registers and logs in to fill the form, they can get crop loss support of ₹7,500 to ₹10,000 per hectare directly in their bank account through DBT.

One thing to note. In this BRFSY scheme, there is no restriction on farmers who have already taken loans from nationalized banks, cooperative banks or other lending institutions. Bihar govt. also gives benefits to farmers who borrowed money from other agencies. The scheme started in 2018 and lakhs of farmers have got benefit from it so far.

Here is the full process to register and apply online for Bihar Rajya Fasal Sahayata Yojana. The portal has now moved to the new e-Sahkari website, so use the latest links given in each step below.

STEP 1 - First visit the official website at https://esahkari.bihar.gov.in, which is run by the Cooperative Department, Government of Bihar.

STEP 2 - On the homepage, click on the link for "Bihar Rajya Fasal Sahayata Yojana application" for the current season (Rabi 2025-26 or the Kharif season, as the case may be).

STEP 3 - A new window will open where you have to enter your farmer registration number and click on search. Your basic details will get fetched automatically from the farmer registration system.

STEP 4 - If you do not have a farmer registration number yet, you first need to register at the Agriculture Department. Click on the farmer registration link or directly go to https://dbtagriculture.bihar.gov.in/ to reach DBT Agriculture Bihar website.

STEP 5 - On the DBT Agriculture page, go to the registration tab in the main menu and click on the registration link, or directly open https://dbtagriculture.bihar.gov.in/RegFarmer/ to start farmer registration.

STEP 6 - In the next window, select the user type as CSC, SAHAJ or General User. Once you select the user type, the Bihar Rajya Fasal Sahayata Yojana online registration form will open.

STEP 7 - Only those farmers who have an aadhaar number can click on the "Yes" option to register. If aadhaar card is not available, then such farmers are not eligible for this BRFSY scheme.

STEP 8 - Next, farmers have to complete aadhaar authentication, usually through an OTP sent to the linked mobile number, to fill the BRFSY application form.

STEP 9 - Fill in your full details, crop name, account number, khesra number, sown area, bank details and aadhaar details. Then upload the required documents and the self-declaration certificate.

STEP 10 - Finally, submit the completed application form online. Download the receipt and keep it safe for future reference. Farmers who prefer mobile can also apply through the "e-Sahkari" app available on Google Play Store.

How Much Money Do Farmers Get

Support amount depends on how much the crop loss is. Bihar govt. gives ₹7,500 per hectare if the loss in production is up to 20% of the threshold limit. If the loss is more than 20%, then farmers get ₹10,000 per hectare. This support is given for a maximum of 2 hectares per farmer. Loss is decided through the Crop Cutting Experiment (CCE), which keeps the process clear and fair.
