Maharashtra Atal Construction Workers Awas Yojana (Rural) is a housing scheme for construction workers registered in rural areas of the state. The scheme is run by the Maharashtra Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (MBOCWWB) and offers financial support to construction workers to build pucca houses.

Under this scheme, eligible construction workers get financial assistance of ₹2 lakh to build a new pucca house or convert their existing kutcha house into a pucca one. The scheme is a 100% state-sponsored housing scheme for registered construction workers living in rural Maharashtra.

Eligibility for Atal Bandkam Kamgar Yojana (Rural)

To get the benefit of this scheme, a construction worker needs to meet the eligibility conditions given below.

• Must be registered with the Maharashtra Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (MBOCWWB) as an active construction worker.
• Must be between 18 and 60 years of age.
• Must have worked for more than 90 days in the last 12 months.
• Registration with MBOCWWB must be for a duration of more than 1 year.
• Must not already possess a pucca house.
• Must have a letter or certified list from the competent officer confirming eligibility under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

• Identity card issued by the competent authority confirming registration as a construction worker.
• Aadhaar card.
• 7/12 extract or property registration certificate or property record from Gram Panchayat.

STEP 2 - In the financial section, go to the "Atal Bandkam Kamgar Awas Yojana (Rural)" option and download the application form.

STEP 3 - Fill in the application form with the required details and attach the supporting documents.

STEP 4 - Submit the completed form to the Deputy District Executive Officer, Maharashtra Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, or the Group Development Officer at the Panchayat Samiti.

Maharashtra Construction Workers Housing Scheme (Rural) Details

All the eligible construction workers who meet the above eligibility criteria can get the scheme benefit. The houses under the Construction Workers Housing Scheme (Rural) Maharashtra will have 269 sq. ft. of carpet area. Beneficiaries can build larger houses, but for that they would have to bear the extra cost on their own.

As per the official labour department reports, there are about 26 lakh construction workers in the state. Out of this, around 12.5 lakh construction workers are registered with MBOCWWB. Among these registered workers, there are about 4 lakh construction workers in rural areas who do not own a pucca house. The state government has invited applications from these construction workers.

Maharashtra government will give approval to these applications after successful verification of the documents. The state government expects these homes to be built within 6 to 8 months. Moreover, there are some construction workers who do not have their own land. So, the government is considering a proposal to provide ₹50,000 to buy land to build a house.
