About Assam Orunodoi Scheme 2025
Orunodoi Scheme 2025 was originally launched as the biggest direct benefit transfer scheme of Assam on 1 December 2020. It is a new scheme to empower women and provide financial assistance to economically vulnerable families. In this Orunodoi Scheme, now, the Assam govt. is providing Rs. 1200 per month (increased from Rs. 1000 earlier) to eligible 40 lakh state resident families to buy essential food items.

The number of families covered under Orunodoi scheme would be subsequently increased to over 40 lakh. The assistance amount would be transferred to the account of one of the female members of the family.
Objectives of Assam Orunodoi Scheme
The main objective of the Assam Orunodoi scheme is to financially help the deprived / poor families in the state and improvise their life through a substantial income support. The Orunodoi Scheme envisages poverty eradication and socio-economic inclusion of financial vulnerable families of the state. It is done through sustainable financial aid by DBT, leveraging cash transfer on a monthly basis. The twin objectives of Assam Orunodoi Scheme are as follows:-

- Taking the poor out of BPL in accordance with our commitment to sustainable development goals (SDG).
Assam Orunodoi Scheme will ensure that underprivileged families are assured of minimum monthly cash flow. The other objective is to minimize multiplicity of schemes and consolidate them through DBT platform in aid of better delivery and outcomes.
Assam Orunodoi Scheme Amount
Orunodoi was first introduced in 2020, by the then Hon’ble Finance Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, the assistance was scientifically fixed at Rs. 830 per beneficiary per month.
Later, amount of the assistance was enhanced to Rs. 1000 to make this a lumpsum amount. And now, in the 3rd version of the scheme, the amount has been further increased to Rs. 1250 per month and the beneficiary count has also reached more than 40 Lakh.

For enrollment for financial assistance in Assam Orunodoi Scheme, applicants will be enter their address details. Candidates will have to enter their Block / ULB name, Gram Panchayat / Town name, Village Name / Ward No, Locality in Town, Applicant’s name, Gender, Age, House number, Locality, Police Station, Street, Pin Code, Contact number. Finally, applicants can submit the duly filled in Assam Orunodoi Scheme application form.
Eligibility Criteria for Assam Orunodoi Scheme 2025
In order to take the benefits of Orunodoi scheme, the applicants must fulfill the following basic eligibility criteria for the Orunodoi Scheme in Assam:
- Applicant must be a permanent resident of Assam and presently residing in the state.
- Combined annual household income of the applicant should not exceed Rs. 2 Lakh per year.
- The beneficiary (nominated female member) should have a bank account wherein the name in bank account should match the scheme records.
- In case the beneficiary does not possess a bank account, then a bank account would be required to be opened prior to the date of approval of Orunodoi Scheme Application.
It is important to note that priority will be given to those households which has widows, divorced / unmarried / separated females and any specially abled member of the household. Moreover, priority will be given to those poorer families on the basis whether they are covered under NFSA or not.

Assam has been a pioneer in the country for the poor, through direct benefit transfer (DBT) mode. Under Orunodoi scheme, monetary benefits has been envisaged for around 24 lakh poor households in the state. The schematic benefit has been enhanced from Rs. 830 to Rs. 1000 per month. Selection of Beneficiaries for Orunodoi Scheme Assistance
As per the Assam government, women will be the beneficiaries of the scheme who will receive the financial benefit of Rs. 1200 per month under the scheme. Since, women are the primary caretakers of the family, they have been chosen to be the scheme beneficiaries. Selection of beneficiaries under the Orunodoi scheme has already been started. The transfer of funds will be done through the Direct Benefit Transfer mode to the bank accounts of nominee women beneficiary of the family.
The District Level Monitoring Committee may devise modalities for preparing the list of eligible beneficiaries strictly as per the guidelines. The preliminary selection of the beneficiaries will be done at the level of Gaon Panchayat / Village Council Development Committee / Urban Local Bodies based on eligibility criteria as mentioned above.
