Sikkim government is going to launch a new Aama Yojana 2024 soon. In this scheme, the state govt. will provide Rs. 20,000 each to all non-working mothers per annum. Chief Minister P S Tamang has also announced to start Bahini Scheme to provide free sanitary napkins to all girl students of class 9 and above in the state. About Sikkim Aama Yojana 2024

Addressing a function at Melli on 4 March 2022, CM announced that the Sikkim state government will implement Aama Yojna for non-working mothers and Bahini scheme for girl students. Under the Aama Yojana scheme, all non-working mothers in the state will receive financial assistance annually in their bank accounts.

Amount under Sikkim Aama Yojna

CM Tamang mentioned that all non working mothers will get Rs. 20,000 per annum as financial aid. This amount would be transferred directly into the bank accounts of non working mothers through direct benefit transfer (DBT) mode. The main objective is to raise the financial status of all mothers who are not working at present. Only those women whose names are in the electoral roll of the Sikkim state will get the money.

Implementation of Sikkim Aama Scheme

Sikkim Aama Yojana will be implemented from the financial year 2022. All the required formalities for the efficient implementation of the Aama scheme was under process. CM mentioned that a sum of Rs. 100 crore has been earmarked in the Sikkim Budget 2022-23 for the Aama Yojana. CM even hoped that it will inculcate the habit of saving among non-working mothers.

Sikkim Bahini Scheme

In the Bahini scheme the state government will provide free sanitary napkins to girl students studying in class 9 and above. Over 18,000 girl students study in class 9 and above in the state. CM added that “the state government also plans to establish sanitary napkin vending machines in schools and also increase awareness and sensitisation programmes about menstrual health and hygiene”.
