UP collects data on triple talaq-affected women
In 2026, Uttar Pradesh's Women Welfare Department began collecting verified details of women affected by triple talaq to identify eligible women for priority housing and health benefits. Proposed links include Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana, Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana. Detailed guidelines and a Government Order for the expansion were still being prepared when the report was published.
Under the scheme announced in September 2019, eligible women were entitled to ₹6,000 a year until they were rehabilitated and received justice. The scheme also provides free legal aid.
