Gaya tops PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana rankings

Gaya district in Bihar topped the list of 100 districts under the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY). Nagaur in Rajasthan and Umaria in Madhya Pradesh came next in the rankings.

The rankings were announced at a New Delhi event on Monday, marking the scheme's first year. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was present. 18 districts were also recognized for performance across six main goals.

Khet Bachao Abhiyan

Minister Chouhan announced the Khet Bachao Abhiyan. It will run in all states from October 22 to November 30. The campaign aims to improve soil health by guiding farmers to use fertilizers properly.

He asked State Governments and related authorities to carry out the Khet Bachao Abhiyan well. A Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare press release said the minister urged all people involved to cooperate for the campaign's success.

Second year priorities

Chouhan said the first year of PMDDKY focused on building a strong base for agricultural growth. He stated the next phase must improve productivity and give farmers clear benefits.

The minister listed priorities like raising cropping intensity, better irrigation and water management, promoting high-value crops, improving post-harvest facilities, and expanding farm credit access.
