Bihar sets 2.85 lakh-acre target for drone-based crop spraying in 2026-27

Bihar targets covering 2,85,160 acres using drone-based crop spraying in the 2026-27 financial year. The state government approved ₹11.81 crore to run this under Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana. This scheme works in all 38 districts of the state.

Eligibility and application

Farmers registered on the Agriculture Department DBT portal can apply for this subsidised service. Main rules include:

  • Subsidised spraying for up to 15 acres per farmer each season.
  • At most two sprayings for each crop or season.
  • Support for insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, liquid fertilisers, micronutrients, and bio-pesticides.

So far, drone spraying finished on 24,789 acres. The government has already approved over ₹10.13 crore in subsidies for farmers. Agriculture Department uses Integrated Pest Management, applying chemical pesticides only when pests or diseases reach the economic threshold level.
