Himachal Pradesh provides Rs 1.5 lakh housing grant under Swaran Jayanti Ashray Yojana

Himachal Pradesh government gives a housing grant of Rs 1.5 lakh to eligible poor families to build pucca houses under Swaran Jayanti Ashray Yojana. Department of Social Justice and Empowerment runs this scheme. Applications for the 2026-27 period are now open.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must meet these requirements:

• Be a permanent resident of Himachal Pradesh.
• Belong to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, or Other Backward Classes.
• Have an annual family income of Rs 50,000 or less.
• Not own a house.
• Own the land for the house, with the name in official revenue records.

Application process

Submit applications online through the state welfare portal or offline at the local tehsil or district welfare office. Required documents are a Himachali Bonafide Certificate, caste certificate, income certificate, and land records like Tatima and Jamabandi. For local verification, you need a gram sabha proposal, a spot report, a no objection certificate, and a site photograph signed by the local pradhan.
