Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang announced an expansion of Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana. From 2027, the scheme will cover 50,000 mothers in the state. Each person will get 40,000 rupees every year. This will come in two payments of 20,000 rupees sent to their State Bank of Sikkim accounts.

Details of support

This scheme helps non-working, unmarried, widowed, divorced, and separated mothers between 18 and 59 years old. The government is raising the yearly budget for this to 200 crore rupees. It is good to see this direct support for families.

The government also started two new awards. Aama Samman Puraskar will give 51,000 rupees to one mother from each of the 32 Assembly constituencies. Also, Pragatisheel Aama Puraskar will reward three mothers for using their money well with prizes of 5 lakh rupees, 3 lakh rupees, and 2 lakh rupees.
