Sikkim Announces 2 Percent DA and DR Hike for Employees and Pensioners

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang announced a 2 per cent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners. This change applies from January 1 to June 2026. The government plans to pay all arrears before the Dashain 2026 festival.

New welfare measures

During the 80th Independence Day celebrations at Paljor Stadium, the Chief Minister announced several support measures. These include a 20 per cent reservation for ex-Agniveers in police and forest guard recruitment. Also, the government is expanding the Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana to support 50,000 mothers by 2027. Farmers who pay back KCC crop loans on time will now get a benefit of an interest rate of 1 per cent.
