Odisha cabinet approves Rs 15,949 crore for power infrastructure

Odisha cabinet approved a Rs 15,948.70 crore investment for Mukhya Mantri Shakti Bikash Yojana to expand electricity transmission. This project adds Odisha's first 765 KV transmission network with three new grid substations at Khuntuni, Duburi and Kolabira, plus two new 400 KV substations at Kansbahal and Titilagarh.

Infrastructure and scheme updates

This plan adds 10 new 220 KV grid substations, taking the total to 75. Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Ltd will use AI for maintenance and upgrade 79 existing substations to increase transformation capacity from 29,889 MVA to 63,364 MVA.

Also, the cabinet approved the revised BASUDHA scheme with a Rs 5,045 crore budget for 2026-27 to 2028-29 to supply rural drinking water. Panchasakha Shikhya Setu also received approval for a Rs 312.96 crore grant over five years for school development.
