Odisha adds 2,91,666 houses under Antyodaya Gruha Yojana, extends scheme to 2029

Odisha has approved 2,91,666 more houses under the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana and extended the scheme by two years, up to 2029. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said the decision will speed up work on homes for poor families that cannot get help under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

Under the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana, the total outlay stays at ₹7,550 crore. Of this, ₹3,500 crore set aside for house repairs will now go to building new houses. This lets the state add houses without raising the approved budget.

Families that have received ₹48,500 or less under the scheme, and other eligible households, will be considered for the new houses. The Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department has been asked to run a survey and identify families that meet the rules.

Incentives for finishing houses on time have also gone up. People who complete construction within five months get ₹35,000, against ₹20,000 earlier for completion within four months. Those who finish within seven months get ₹20,000, against ₹10,000 earlier for six months. The earlier rates for the time-linked incentive were ₹20,000 and ₹10,000.

Antyodaya Gruha Yojana was launched to give pucca houses to 5 lakh families who did not qualify for housing support under the central scheme. The state survey will decide which extra families join the list. Scheme rules and the application form are on the Rural Housing Portal Odisha.
