Manipur Targets September 2027 for Smart Meter Completion

Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) plans to finish installing smart electricity meters across the state by September 2027. Right now, 68,400 meters work out of a 1.54 lakh target. Smart meters help users track usage in real time through the official website and mobile app. These replace manual readings with automatic data updates.

Solar energy and grid improvements

To manage rising peak demand, which should reach 310 MW by early 2027, the state is pushing for 18,000 home rooftop solar installations by March 2027. This happens under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. Money help ranges from 33,000 rupees to 85,800 rupees based on system size. Also, infrastructure upgrades are happening through the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to lower distribution losses and make power supply more reliable.
