Joshi urges Karnataka to release ₹1,680 crore crop insurance share

News Karnataka reports that Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has asked Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to release the state's pending ₹1,680 crore share of 2026 crop-insurance premiums under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
Joshi said in a letter that the amount had been with the state Finance Department for about one-and-a-half months and that the delay was affecting claim settlements. He also said the Union government had released ₹1,342 crore for the season, with the final instalment reportedly paid on August 27.
As reported on October 24, the state's response and the timing of any release had not been confirmed. Claim payments remain subject to policy terms and crop-loss assessments; the official PMFBY note outlines the scheme's coverage.
