Vocational Education and Training Loan Scheme is a Government initiative run by NSKFDC under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. It offers finances to youth from target groups so they can develop skills for better job opportunities through accessible credit. In FY 2025–26, NSKFDC disbursed ₹223 crore in concessional finance to 29,448 beneficiaries, confirming the scheme remains active and well-used.

Benefits

This scheme offers need-based finance covering up to 90% of your total course expenses. for example, if someone enrolls in a 1-year skill development course costing ₹1,00,000, they can receive a loan of up to ₹90,000.

Loan Ceiling: for courses lasting up to 2 years, you can get up to ₹4,00,000.

Interest Rates: NSKFDC charges 1% p.a. from the channelizing agency, and the agency charges 4% p.a. from the beneficiaries. Women applicants enjoy a further benefit, receiving an interest rebate of 0.5%.

Repayment Period: You must repay the loan over a period of up to 7 years.

Note: Any costs that exceed the approved loan amount are borne by the beneficiary.

Who Can Apply

To apply, you must belong to the specific target group defined by NSKFDC. You should have secured admission in a course supported by a Government Ministry, the National Skill Development Corporation, or State Skill Missions.

Course Requirements: The training program must have a duration of at least 6 months and a maximum of 2 years.

Age Limits: You must be between 18 and 50 years of age upon completion of your course. for instance, if someone is 48, they remain eligible for a 1-year training program.
