AP Jagananna Thodu Scheme 4th Phase has been launched on 3 August 2022. AP Jagananna Thodu Scheme was earlier launched by Andhra Pradesh government on 25 November 2020. In this scheme, the state govt. will provide ID Cards and Rs. 10,000 as working capital loan to street vendors. All the interested vendors can now apply online for AP Jagananna Thodu Scheme 2024, make subsequent login, check eligibility criteria and beneficiary status. This scheme is based on the lines of PM Street Vendors Atmanirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) Yojana and all the information about this scheme is given in this article.

AP Jagananna Thodu 4th Phase Update

Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy credited Rs. 395 crores to 3.95 lakh beneficiaries under Jagananna Thodu scheme on 3 August 2022 besides an interest component of Rs. 15.96 crore. According to CMO, Jagananna Thodu scheme provides Rs. 10,000 each to small traders, vendors and artisans and so far, the state government has provided Rs. 2,011 crores to 15,03,558 families under the scheme to promote self-employment.

The small traders and vendors who sell their goods and ware on the pavements, tiny shops and push carts generate employment and become part of social empowerment. The Chief Minister said that he had seen the plight of such petty traders, who were exploited by money lenders and middlemen besides artisans and the Jagananna Thodu scheme had thus evolved and we have kept our promise by paying Rs 10,000 each.

For those who repay loans on time, the state has been taking the interest burden and Rs. 48.48 crore has been reimbursed to 12.50 lakh families. As part of this, Rs. 15.96 crores is being reimbursed now. CM said “The list has 3.95 lakh new beneficiaries to whom an amount of 395 crore loans are being given. Of the beneficiaries, 80% are women and belong to SC, ST, BC and Minorities which is a glaring example of the social and economic empowerment.

Drawing a comparison with the previous government, Chief Minster said, such welfare was never thought of by the previous dispensation and it never thought of people who were engaged in small and petty trade selling coffee, tea, eateries, vegetables, fruits in various modes. They also did not focus on artisans and traditional craftsmen. CM added “They only followed the principle of plunder, stash and ingest formula but our Government has embarked on the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Of the 15.03 lakh beneficiaries majority of them are also being benefited by other schemes being implemented by our Government. The budget remains the same then and now the only difference is change of Chief Minister. Why schemes are reaching the poor now means, there are no middle and it is being credited directly into the bank accounts shunting out the role of middlemen and corruption”.

AP Jagananna Thodu 3rd Phase Update

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the third phase of “Jagananna Thodu” on 28 February 2022. The government of Andhra Pradesh on Monday disbursed the interest-free loans of Rs. 510.46 crore to another 5,10,462 street vendors who sell fruits and vegetables under Jagananna Thodu scheme. It is known that on November 25, 2020, the government launched a special ‘Jagannanna Thodu’ scheme to help small traders as they have been yielding into debts due to high-interest loans.

The Jagananna Thodu scheme provides loans at the rate of Rs. 10000 /- per beneficiary without any guarantee. However, the beneficiaries have to repay the loan in installments of 12 months and the government will pay the interest on the loan directly to the beneficiaries. The scheme has already disbursed loans to 5,35,112 people in the first tranche and 3,70,517 people in the second tranche. A total of 9,05,629 people have been given loans in first two tranches.

Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy formally inaugurated the third tranche loan disbursement program at his camp office in Tadepalli. The government has disbursed interest-free loans to 3.56 lakh small businesses, mostly in rural areas in this tranche. It is estimated that a total of 14.16 lakh people benefited from the scheme including the third tranche.
