AP Smart Ration Card: Andhra Pradesh government is starting distribution of Smart Ration cards to all ration card holders in the state from 25th August 2025. New ration card applicants will also get this smart ration cards from the same day. AP government is taking this smart ration card initiative to provide better citizen services by linking their ration card number to different social welfare schemes & services in the state.
As per the official ePos website of Andhra Pradesh, there are 1,45,97,486 active ration cards in the state as of 7th August 2025. There are a total of 29,795 fair price shops in the state where ration is distributed to the eligible holders. With about 96.05% ration card holders who have completed their eKYC will be issued these cards. Rest of the applicants can complete their ration card eKyc in Andhra Pradesh by visiting the Meeseva center.
What is AP Smart Ration Card?
Smart ration cards incorporate advanced technology, such as QR codes, to ensure secure transactions and track the distribution of rations. The QR code displayed on the smart ration card will contain details of the household including some details such as FPS, ration availability etc.
In the Andhra Pradesh smart ration card, there will be options to “Add or Remove” family members and split card between members.
These smart ration cards in AP will be issued free of cost and there will be no political imagery on the card.
How to Apply Online for AP Smart Ration Card
Existing ration card beneficiaries of Andhra Pradesh need not to apply online or offline anywhere for getting smart ration card, they can just collect their new smart ration card from their ration shop.
We did not find any official link to apply online for smart ration card or even any ration card in Andhra Pradesh.
Earlier the online applications for new ration card were being invited through the Meeseva portal. However, it is most likely that if the applications are made online again, these will be made through the Meeseva portal itself. If you want to apply online for new ration card, which will be a smart ration card for all applicants, you can follow the below process.
Visit the official website of AP Meeseva at ap.meeseva.gov.in
Search for “Issue of New Ration Card” in the find your service search box and click on the matching service name.
Then click on “Apply for Ration Card“, create your account using the Aadhar number & mobile number.
Enter all the correct details in the AP ration card application form and attach all the required documents.
Submit the application form and your smart ration card will be delivered to your home or the FPS after approval.

Apply Offline
If you did not find any link to apply online for smart ration card, then you can visit any nearest Meeseva center to apply for issue of new ration card.
Download AP Smart Ration Card
There is no option as of now to download the smart ration card Andhra Pradesh online through any website. However, after the distribution starts, the state government may launch a dedicated facility to download the PDF copy of ration card for digital use.
Eligibility Criteria for AP Smart Ration Card
Eligibility criteria for new smart ration card in Andhra Pradesh will be same as earlier.
- You should be a permanent resident of Andhra Pradesh.
- You should hold a valid income certificate.
- Aadhar card is mandatory.
- Active mobile number linked with Aadhar card is mandatory to apply.
