A new rooftop solar scheme has been launched in Odisha under the Central Government’s PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Tata Power-led Odisha Discoms have launched a special 1 kW Rooftop Solar System under the Utility-Led Aggregation (ULA) Model, where consumers need to pay only ₹5,000 as a one-time contribution.
Normally, installing a 1 kW rooftop solar system costs around ₹65,000-₹75,000, but with central and state subsidies of ₹55,000, the consumer’s burden is reduced drastically under the new 1 kW rooftop solar scheme. This new scheme in Odisha is designed especially for middle-class and low-income households who want to switch to solar but cannot afford high upfront costs.
