WB Student Internship Scheme Latest Update

West Bengal Higher Education Department first cleared this internship scheme in a cabinet meeting held on 31 January 2022. Back then, the monthly allowance was fixed at Rs. 5,000 and the state government had planned to hire around 6,000 interns every year for various government postings.

She confirmed that the monthly stipend has been raised to Rs. 10,000 and said around 2,500 students would get internship opportunities in this phase, with renewal possible based on performance. Some official statements still mention a wider target of 6,000 interns a year as the scheme expands.
