Tripura government had launched Mukhyamantri Matru Pushti Uphaar Scheme on 25 June 2020 for pregnant ladies. Under this scheme, the state govt. will provide nutrition kits to pregnant women and lactating mothers absolutely free of cost. This CM Matru Pushti Uphaar Scheme is a part of the state govt’s efforts to fight malnutrition and maternal mortality. The state govt. is expected to incur an expenses of around Rs. 8 crore per annum on this initiative.
The Tripura Mukhyamantri Matru Pushti Uphaar Yojana was announced by the State Minister for Social Welfare and Social Education Santana Chakma. Around 40,000 pregnant / lactating women would be benefited from the nutrition kits and the cost of each kit is approx. Rs. 500.
The new scheme for pregnant / lactating women in Tripura will be in addition to the Pradhan Mantri Matru Bandana Yojana in which Rs. 5000 each was given to 58,996 beneficiaries after the birth of their first child.
Tripura Mukhyamantri Matru Pushti Uphaar Scheme 2024
In order to strengthen the fight against malnutrition for pregnant women and infants, the Tripura Govt. has launched Mukhyamantri Matru Pushti Uphaar Scheme 2024. In this scheme, the state govt. will provide free nutrition kits to pregnant women and lactating mothers. The main aim is to reduce the infant mortality rate (IMR) and maternal mortality rate (MMR).
Features of Mukhyamantri Matru Pushti Uphaar Yojana
The important features and highlights of Tripura Mukhyamantri Matru Pushti Uphaar Scheme 2024 are as follows:-
- Free Nutrition Kits – Each nutrition kit will cost Rs. 500 & will have food items and grocery supplies. It includes items such as peanuts, soya bean, mixed pulses, jaggery and ghee. These nutrition kits would be distributed to pregnant and lactating women absolutely free of cost.
- Test – All the pregnant women will have to undergo periodic check-ups at a nearby Primary Health Centre (PHCs). The free nutrition kits would be given to the pregnant / lactating mothers after their each visit at PHC. Pregnant women will be tested 4 times in nearby PHC and the kit will be given after each test.
- Beneficiaries Count – Around 40, 000 women will be benefited under the Tripura Mukhyamantri Matru Pushti Uphaar Scheme.
Previously, the state govt. had doled out Rs. 5,000 each under Pradhan Mantri Matru Bandana Yojana to around 58,996 beneficiaries. This amount was given to pregnant women after the birth of their first child.
Revised Guidelines for Children
As per the regulations, children who were suffering from severe acute malnourishment (SAM) were given 4 eggs per week. Now in the revised guidelines, 6 eggs per week and 20 gm jaggery & 200 ml milk will be provided six days every week.
