West Bengal Expands Health Coverage Under Ayushman Bharat

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced on August 16, 2026, that 1,867 hospitals in the state will provide services under Ayushman Bharat and Mukhyamantri Swasthya Bima Yojana. This network includes 1,240 private hospitals and 627 government medical facilities. Eligible people can now get treatment at 38,600 hospitals across the country.
Health benefits for families
Cashless health coverage of up to ₹5 lakh is available to eligible families. Families not covered by Ayushman Bharat get support under the state scheme. This scheme covers 80 lakh families. The scheme now offers 1,950 treatment packages, up from 1,700 procedures. Health Minister Sharadwat Mukherrjee confirmed these details to help people in West Bengal get better medical care.
