PMMVY disburses Rs 21,800 crore to 4.76 crore mothers

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) has paid over Rs 21,800 crore straight into bank accounts of more than 4.76 crore mothers across India.

Manipur CM Yumnam Khemchand Singh said this while sharing state efforts to improve how the scheme runs at the national Departmental Summit on Women and Child Development in New Delhi. The two-day meeting started Oct 8 and ended Oct 9.

Singh pointed out that eligible pregnant women and nursing mothers should get money within 30 days of applying. He asked for better teamwork between departments and ground staff so applications move fast and payments come on time.

Singh listed tech steps taken under PMMVY. These include Aadhaar face scans to check who gets benefits, a Due List on Poshan Tracker to help Anganwadi workers find eligible women early, and a stronger three-level complaint system. The Search and Track tool lets users see their application and payment status.

He shared methods from other states to boost results. Assam set up a special team to work daily with its finance department. Jharkhand sends monthly reports by district and project. Chhattisgarh runs open-house meets every day to fix issues. Maharashtra keeps a digital record linking Anganwadi workers, supervisors and project officers.

Talking about hurdles, Singh pushed for tighter digital links between PMMVY and the Health Ministry. This would let officials pull maternal and child health data like last period dates, antenatal checks, delivery info and shots, cutting repeat paperwork for women.

He also urged a look at eligibility rules so help reaches poor and at-risk women first. Singh praised the PMMVY Toolkit from the ministry, saying it gives clear steps and app screenshots for Anganwadi staff and supervisors. He asked states to translate it into local languages and share widely with field workers.

Discussions included moving PMMVY payments to SNA-SPARSH and linking the scheme portal with state IFMS systems. Singh stressed tight coordination between Women & Child Development and Finance departments to keep funds flowing and payments on schedule.
