Short Update
NPS revised PoP charges start on December 1, 2026

PFRDA has moved the start of revised Points of Presence (PoP) charges for National Pension System (NPS) and NPS Lite from October 1 to December 1, 2026. Its October 26 circular says all other terms in the August 28 circular remain unchanged.
The revised charges include a one-time ₹200 onboarding fee per Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN), deducted in quarterly instalments of ₹50. The PoP receives it in the month after the quarter in which onboarding is completed. A reduced one-time fee of ₹100 may apply to fully digital, non-face-to-face onboarding, as decided by PFRDA. The annual charge is 0.20% of assets under management (AUM), adjusted through the scheme's net asset value and deducted quarterly. GST and other applicable taxes are extra.
Subscribers who open an account through e-NPS and make later contributions through e-NPS or D-Remit are exempt from PoP charges. Those who enrol through a PoP remain liable even if they later contribute through e-NPS or D-Remit. Dormant accounts, defined as accounts linked to one PAN across all CRAs with no contribution for four consecutive quarters, will not have annual charges. Minimum contributions are ₹250 at onboarding and ₹10 for later contributions.
PoPs must display updated charges on their websites and show the applicable fees in a pop-up during digital onboarding. Subscribers should check the PoP's fees before opening an account.
