New Fisheries Infrastructure Project Launch in Puducherry

Department of Fisheries starts a new infrastructure project on September 1, 2026, at Kamarajar Manimadapam, Puducherry. This work is part of Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana and helps coastal communities earn a steady income. Union Minister Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh will lead the event. It focuses on helping local fish farmers and women.

Fishing harbor developments

Karaikal is now a Fishing Harbour Cluster. It has a budget of ₹119.94 Crores for a new Smart and Integrated Fishing Harbour. These efforts add to the work at Thengaithittu Fishing Harbour and Nallavadu Fish Landing Centre. These places already help over 600 fishing families. The project also supports cooperative seaweed farming through the Advanced Centre for Innovation and Capacity Development to build a stronger fishing economy.
