Union Labour Ministry has notified the National Social Security Board for unorganised, gig and platform workers under the Code on Social Security, as per its release of 30 October 2026. Union Labour and Employment Minister will chair the board.

Members include Central and state government officials, aggregator companies, employers, workers' unions, civil society groups and associations of gig and platform workers. The board will recommend welfare schemes for these workers and monitor schemes run by the Centre. It will also advise the government on the Code, review state-level record keeping and check spending from the related fund. It has to meet at least three times a year.

No new benefit amount has been announced yet. Gig and platform workers can already join the national database through e-Shram gig workers registration.
