Locals demand inquiry into Ajas–Charawan PMGSY road construction quality

Residents of Ajas village requested an official inquiry into the building quality of the Ajas-Charawan road project under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. This follows the collapse of a newly built retaining wall on a hill slope. Local reports say repair work involves laying iron mesh over loose earth and rocks without proper mortar.

Legal status

High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh issued an interim order stopping land acquisition for the project. Justice Rahul Bharti directed that land holdings of nine petitioners in Ajas village cannot be taken for the road until further notice, following claims of property takeover without formal acquisition or payment.
