Short Update
Karnataka introduces 2% biometric exemption for ration distribution

Food and Civil Supplies Department gives a 2% exemption margin from biometric fingerprint checks at every fair-price shop for eligible people with real difficulties. This rule helps senior citizens, manual workers, and people with technical problems with fingerprint scans under Anna Bhagya scheme.
Alternative authentication and exemptions
Eligible people who cannot do fingerprint checks can use iris authentication instead. If fingerprint and iris scans both fail because of health or physical limits, officials can give a full exemption from biometric checks.
Anna Suvidha registration simplified
Registration for Anna Suvidha is easier now as eligible people do not have to download and use a specific mobile app on their own. This scheme delivers ration to the doorstep of single-member priority families aged over 75 years and Antyodaya Anna Yojana ration cardholders.
