Employees' Pension Scheme 2026 wage limit fixed at Rs 15,000 per month

Union Government has fixed the wage limit under Employees' Pension Scheme, 2026 at Rs 15,000 per month. Earlier, the Central Government could specify this limit. Ministry of Labour and Employment made the change through Gazette notification G.S.R. 890(E) dated 15 October 2026, under Section 15(1)(b) of the Code on Social Security, 2020.

Paragraph 4(2) of the scheme now says the wage limit is restricted to wages of up to Rs 15,000 a month. The notification also removes the words "and the Central Government" from the first proviso to this sub-paragraph.

The change applies retrospectively from 17 September 2026. Employees' Pension Scheme, 2026 was first notified on 29 June 2026 and was last amended on 25 September 2026.
