Delhi approves Rs 9.75 crore aid for 123 sportspersons under MMKPY

Delhi Government has approved Rs 9.75 crore in support for 123 sportspersons under Mukhyamantri Khel Protsahan Yojana (MMKPY). This includes 89 elite athletes and 34 school-level players.

Elite sportspersons will get up to Rs 20 lakh each. This is for specialized coaching, better gear, food and training.

Of the total amount, Rs 5.85 crore (60 per cent) will go straight to the verified bank accounts of eligible people in the first phase. The remaining Rs 3.90 crore will be released after checking use certificates and bills.

The scheme now covers more sports. At the elite level, these are Wushu, Roller Skating, Kabaddi, Handball and Basketball. At the school level, Wushu, Mallakhamb, Yogasana and Roller Skating have been added.
