Andhra Pradesh wins top PMAY-U 2.0 award 2026

Andhra Pradesh has topped the Best Performing State category in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0) Awards 2026. The award was given on World Habitat Day at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.

M Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, Special Secretary for Housing, took the award from Tokhan Sahu, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs. This shows the state's fast progress in urban housing work.

Implementation details

The cost of building a house under PMAY-U 2.0 is now Rs 2.50 lakh. The Centre and the state share this cost in a 60:40 ratio. Out of 68,309 houses approved across all 26 districts, Andhra Pradesh has started work on 50,122 houses. This is the highest percentage in India.

The state uses digital systems for applications. It also uses the SNA SPARSH platform for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) payments. The process for submitting Detailed Project Reports to the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) is now easier.

Andhra Pradesh plans to provide housing to every eligible poor family by 2029.
