₹1 Lakh Top Prize in MP Cow Contest Across 208 Villages

Gopal-Krishna Gram Award competitions run from October 27 to 31 across Madhya Pradesh's 208 Vrindavan Grams. The Hitavada reports that farmers of all categories who rear the highest-yielding cows can compete. Prizes are ₹1 lakh for first place, ₹50,000 for second and ₹25,000 for third.
Gir, Sahiwal, Tharparkar, Malvi and Niwari cows are in focus. The Animal Husbandry Department has set up block- and district-level committees to assess entries. Prize money can be used only to buy, conserve and promote 100 per cent indigenous cattle. Winners will be honoured each year on Govardhan Puja.
The state plans to extend the competition to all 313 development blocks from 2027-28. The report says milk committees have been formed in 129 villages and dairy union activities are running in 70 villages. Vrindavan Grams are also being linked with Ksheer Sagar Yojana for village milk collection and cold-chain infrastructure.
