Madhya Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board is running Maternity Support Scheme (Prasuti Sahayata Yojana) for registered construction workers, giving ₹16,000 in two parts to a registered woman worker or the wife of a registered male worker at the time of delivery. Scheme has been running since 2004 under the Welfare Board. As per the notification dated 13 July 2018 published in the Madhya Pradesh Gazette, this maternity benefit is now being run as per the rules of Mukhyamantri Shramik Seva Prasuti Sahayata Yojana, and the Public Health and Family Welfare Department handles the payment part. So the money and conditions stay the same, only the department handling the claim has changed. Claims now go to health officers, not through the labour portal.
Maternity Support Scheme (MPBOCWWB) Details
Purpose is simple. A construction worker family loses daily wages during pregnancy and delivery. Cash help of ₹16,000 covers part of that loss along with checkup and delivery costs. Payment is linked with early pregnancy registration and delivery at a government hospital, so the mother and baby both get proper care. Money reaches the bank account through DBT payment.
Benefit is tied to the worker card. If the card has lapsed, renewal or the yearly contribution has to be submitted before the claim is filed. District notices in Madhya Pradesh mention that this maternity help is payable for up to two deliveries.

Who Can Apply
Rules are kept simple so that a normal labour family can qualify without running around. Take an example. If Reena works at a building site in Sagar and holds a valid worker card, she can claim the money for her own delivery. If her husband is the card holder instead, he can claim it for her delivery.
- Valid worker card: Registration with the MP Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board must be live, with renewal or yearly contribution paid.
- Woman worker or wife: A registered woman worker on her own delivery, or a registered male worker on his wife's delivery.
- Age and work record: Worker should be between 18 and 60 years and should have done at least 90 days of construction work in the past one year, which is the base rule for board registration.
- Delivery place: Delivery at a government hospital, or at an authorised private hospital under the Ayushman Bharat Niramayam high risk package in the listed districts.
How To Apply
Claim is filed with the health officer who looks after the hospital or health centre where the pregnancy was registered. No fee is taken for the form.
STEP 1 - Get the pregnancy registered at the nearest sub health centre, primary health centre, community health centre, civil hospital or district hospital within the first three months. This registration is what makes the first ₹4,000 payable.
STEP 2 - Ask the ANM or the hospital staff for the maternity help application form and fill in the worker card number, Samagra ID, Aadhaar number and bank account details exactly as they appear in the passbook.
STEP 3 - Submit the filled form with self signed copies of the documents to the designated officer. For rural areas this is the Block Medical Officer. For town areas it is the Civil Surgeon cum Chief Hospital Superintendent, the officer in charge of the civil hospital, or the Superintendent of the government medical college hospital.
STEP 4 - Take a stamped receipt of the submitted form. Keep it safe, it is needed if the payment is delayed.
STEP 5 - After delivery at the hospital, complete the birth registration of the baby and the BCG, OPV and Hepatitis B vaccination, then inform the same officer so the second installment of ₹12,000 is released to the bank account.
Documents Required
Papers are few, but the name and bank details should match everywhere, otherwise the DBT payment fails.
- Worker card: Registration card issued by the MP Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board with valid renewal.
- Identity proof: Aadhaar card of the woman, and Samagra family ID.
- Medical papers: Mother and child protection card, pregnancy registration slip, and the delivery or birth certificate for the second installment.
- Bank passbook: Copy of the first page of the account which is linked with Aadhaar.

Worker Card Registration
Without a live worker card the maternity claim will not move. A construction worker aged 18 to 60 with 90 days of work in the last year can register with the board at the nearest gram panchayat, janpad or nagar nigam office, or online through the labour department portal. Registration fee is nominal and the card has to be kept renewed. Other board schemes such as Cycle Anudaan Yojana and Mukhyamantri Jankalyan Shiksha Protsahan Yojana also run on the same card.
Families of unorganised workers who are not in construction work get the same ₹16,000 through Mukhya Mantri Shramik Seva Prasuti Sahayata Yojana. Other support such as Deendayal Antyodaya Upchar Yojana and Mukhyamantri Asangathit Mazdoor Yojana can be claimed along with this, as per their own rules.
Payment Delay and Complaint Help
If the money does not come within a few weeks of submitting the papers, first check with the same health officer who took the form.
