Pedalandariki Illu Scheme 2024 is an ambitious housing scheme being run by the Andhra Pradesh state government. Under this scheme, the state govt. is providing free house sites to the eligible people. This includes the commencement of housing construction for the poor.
Under Pedalandariki Illu, the Andhra Pradesh government intends to provide more than 30.6 lakh house sites at an outlay of Rs 8,000 crore to all eligible houseless poor in the state.
AP Pedalandariki Illu Scheme 2024
As per the official sources, the state govt. of Andhra Pradesh had launched AP Pedalandariki Ilu Scheme on 25 Dec 2020. On this day, CM had allocated housing sites by providing necessary documents to all eligible people.
Around 30.6 lakh beneficiaries have been identified across the entire state. Documents for free house sites had been distributed to beneficiaries in the “litigation-free areas.”

Latest Updates of Andhra Pradesh Pedalandariki Illu Scheme
In the initial phase, a total of ₹15,000 crore has been allocated for the construction of these houses. Of this sum, approximately ₹9,000 crore has been dedicated solely to housing construction, while around ₹1,000 crore has been utilized for essential amenities such as power, water, internal roads, arches, and soak pits. Additionally, an amount ranging between ₹4,000 crore to ₹5,000 crore has been earmarked for land acquisition.
As per the A.P. State Housing Corporation Ltd., a grand total of 5,00,653 houses have been built across the State, spanning over 4,500 Jagananna colonies.
Pedalandariki Illu Scheme – Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility criteria for the Andhra Pradesh Pedalandariki Illu Scheme are outlined as follows:
Rural Area
- The beneficiary shall belong to the identified Below Poverty Line (BPL) category household having white ration card.
- The beneficiary shall not have an own House/House Site anywhere in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
- The Beneficiary shall not have been covered in any previous Housing Scheme of the State/Central Government.
- The Beneficiary shall not have more than Ac.2.5 cts of Wet Land or Ac.5.00 cts of Dry Land.
- The beneficiary shall possess an valid Aadhaar Card. Aadhaar details shall be collected only with the consent of beneficiary.
Urban Area
- The beneficiary shall not have an Own House/House Site anywhere in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
- The beneficiary shall not have been covered in any previous Housing Scheme of the State/Central Government.
- The beneficiary shall not have more than Ac.2.5 cts of Wet Land or Ac.5.00 cts of Dry Land.
- The Annual Income (from all the sources) of the Household should not exceed Rs.3,00,000/- (Rupees three lakhs only).
- The beneficiary shall possess an valid Aadhaar Card. Aadhaar details shall be collected only with the consent of beneficiary.
How to Apply for Pedalandariki Illu Scheme / Selection Procedure
- People will apply for help within their own village or town.
- Volunteers in the village/town will check if people meet the requirements to get help.
- A list of people who might get help will be posted. Others can say if they think someone should be added or removed.
- The village/town will have a meeting to decide the final list of people who will get help.
- A leader (Tahsildar/Municipal Commissioner) will send the final list to the District Collector for approval.
- The final list approved by the District Collector will be posted in the village/town.
- If anyone still disagrees, the Tahsildar/Municipal Commissioner will handle it and talk to the District Collector.

Implementation of Pedalandariki Illu Scheme
In the video conference, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has given directions to officials for successful implementation of Pedalandariki Illu Scheme. CM has directed district collectors to complete preparatory works to distribute housing sites as well as for the house construction scheme. He also asked officials to take steps to vacate the stay orders issued by the High Court in certain areas, where the land acquisition process for the house sites has been contested. This scheme was a part of the Navratnalu of CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy led AP government.
Phase 1 & 2 of YSR Pedalandariki Illu Housing Scheme
Under the Pedalandariki Illu (home for all the poor) scheme, the construction of 15.1 lakh houses was taken up in Phase 1 on 25 December 2020. Expenditure on construction of a single house was around Rs. 1.80 lakh per house and these houses were be handed to the beneficiaries free of cost. The first phase of construction is targeted to be completed by June 2022.
In the second phase of Navaratnalu Pedalandariki Illu Scheme, the department aims to finalize an additional five lakh houses by December 2023, with the majority of these units already in the final stages of completion.
Impact of YSR Free House Site Distribution Scheme
CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy reiterated that the YSR Free House Site Distribution Scheme is a flagship programme under the government’s Navaratnalu programme.
This YSR Housing Scheme is going to boost the Andhra Pradesh economy and further encourage employment in urban and rural areas. Chief Minister has also instructed the officials to complete the entire land acquisition process, identification of plots and geo-tagging of houses soon.
